As founder of a successful startup (that was eventually acquired by a major multinational) I found this to be a very sober and structured guide to managing a young business.
Noreen has an incredibly clear and concise way of structuring complex topics into simple steps.
In this book Noreen and Eugene didn't seek to excite you with vague and unspecific high-level strategic tips. It is a sober and accessible step-by-step guide on how to get the important details right, and make your business a success.
It was this advice that certainly helped mine.
5 star, must-buy, and highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent comprehensive guidebook for starting your own successful business.

This is a valuable read for people running businesses and students who want to learn about business: many who start a new business have a great idea but need step-by-step guidance that they can rely on, especially in their first few vital years.
This is a guide you can use time and time again. It protects your business from sudden unwelcome surprises and obstacles stopping growth. It includes a strategic approach, including a comprehensive business plan and a legal plan to ensure compliance with local and national regulations; insurance matters, accounting, and finance are very well covered, cash flows are explained in detail, and they are the bloodline of any business, fundraising and pitching to investors. The mock case study brings it all together.
It also covers bookkeeping and accounting, which few similar books do. I like that it explains the difference between accounting profit and cash flow, which is essential to understand. It is straightforward and easy to follow and a book to keep in your bottom drawer.
I recommend this book to all business people starting or running a business.
